Recently, we had the special privilege of welcoming the Share the Stoke Foundation at one of our very own surf sessions here in Chile. The Share the Stoke Foundation is a non-profit based in South Florida, USA dedicated to spreading the gift of surfing. Founder Kelly Kingston started the foundation when she listed an old surfboard of hers on Craigslist as free to any kid who could write why he or she deserved the board. Since then, the organization has grown to give away multiple boards each year to deserving youth and organizations around the world.
We had the extreme honor to receive a few boards from Kelly and Share the Stoke. Kelly and her friend Wini brought down seven Firewire Surfboards complete with FCS fins, stomp pads, leashes, and Sticky Bumps wax. During our surf session, Kelly, along with VSP founders Jon Steuber and Wiley Todd, helped our students put together the boards and get them out in the water. The smiles on the faces of all of the kids were contagious. We are so excited to continue to use these boards, allowing our students to take their surfing to the next level.
Major thanks to Kelly, Wini, and Share the Stoke for their incredibly generous donation to our students. Kelly explained to our students that her love and passion for surfing is enormous. When you love something that much, you yearn to spread it to those around you. Through her organization Share the Stoke, Kelly is giving the gift of surf around the world. All of us at Valpo Surf Project are truly inspired, and we cannot wait to see where they bring the gift next.
THANK YOU to SHARE THE STOKE, FIREWIRE SURFBOARDS, FCS fins, SLATER DESIGNS, and STICKY BUMPS WAX for spreading the passion for surf down here in Valparaíso, Chile! Much love from all of us at the Valpo Surf Project.
